Iranian Vitray Glassware

The art of painting on glass, or Vitray, is one of the most captivating examples of Iranian handicrafts, transforming simple glass vessels such as vases, plates, and cups into works of art. These creations filter light, creating a colorful and pleasing ambiance.

At “Badamk,” we place special emphasis on the quality of our raw materials. The quality of an Iranian Vitray glass piece primarily depends on the base glass type and the quality of the paints used. Our glassware features high transparency and minimal air bubbles. Furthermore, the specialized Vitray paints we employ in decorating our glass pieces are a distinguishing characteristic of our products. These paints, with a resin or oil base, possess an appropriate viscosity (thickness) to prevent spreading on the glass surface during application. The “thinner” lines that define the boundaries between colors are created to be perfectly cohesive and leak-free.

After the painting is complete, a baking or color-setting process takes place. High-quality Vitray glass items, post-baking, will be resistant to abrasion, gentle washing, and temperature changes.
